Associate Professor Webb has published over 60 Articles in refereed Scientific, Urological and Surgical Journals and was co-author of Percutaneous Renal Surgery (text book on minimally invasive endo-urology of the kidney and ureter), Published by Churchill Livingstone. - see Publications

Design and Development of Surgical Instruments

Professor Webb has designed and has had proto types and production models made of instruments for flexible cystoscopy, insertion of ureteroscopes, percutaneous needle access to the kidney, dilatation of the kidney, and nephrostomy drainage tubes to the kidney.

He has also designed a knife for percutaneous pyeloplasty, instruments for tissue expansion of the scrotum, and stents for open surgery including ileal conduit. - see Urological Interest

Surgical Techniques

Professor Webb has described many new techniques and technical applications for urological surgery. He also researched and developed laparoscopic extra peritoneal space expanders, penile lengthening surgery for cancer resection, percutaneous pyeloplasty and instruments for straightening the ureter for endoscopic access. He was a member of the teams performing the first percutaneous nephrolithotomy in adults and children in Australia and Ireland and the first extra corporeal shockwave lithotripsy for kidney and common bile duct stones in the UK and Australia, respectively.

Professor Webb performed the first application of Holmium Laser/Therapy for Urological conditions, and published the first paper on this modality in the world literature in 1993. Holmium laser treatment is now used routinely for prostate, kidney and stone surgery. He also performed and described the first computer-controlled bipolar diathermy system applications for radical prostatectomy and nephrectomy in 2001.

HIV and Circumcision

Professor Webb has been involved with Professor Roger Short's team of researchers on HIV/AIDS prevention including circumcision and topical oestrogen procedures. - see Links
